Snoop Dogg recently made headlines for his involvement in a controversy surrounding Drake’s diss song “Taylor Made Freestyle.” The West Coast rap legend has now come forward to clarify the situation and apologize for any misunderstanding.

According to Snoop, he inadvertently shared Drake’s controversial track on his Instagram Stories earlier this year. What many interpreted as a show of support for Drake actually stemmed from a mix-up involving cannabis-infused edibles.

“I did a collaborative post with someone,”

Snoop explained.

“When I do it, I don’t listen to the music, I just see Gin & Juice because it’s my brand.”

He was unaware he had posted Drake’s song instead of one of his own tracks.

Snoop’s actions didn’t go unnoticed by Kendrick Lamar, with whom he has collaborated on several occasions. Kendrick addressed the situation on his album “GNX,” rapping about Snoop’s unexpected move.

Snoop quickly reached out to Kendrick after realizing his mistake.

“Then I get the word: ‘Nephew didn’t like what you did,’ What did I do?! ‘You played some music.’ What music?! Then I had to go look at the [post] and I’m like, ‘Aw, that’s cuz.’”

He continued,

“So then I deleted it, called [Kendrick], left him a message ’cause he ain’t pick up, he was working on his shit. ‘Nephew, it’s Uncle Snoop. I got the message. I apologize, I was fucked up. My bad.’”

Snoop expressed no offense towards Kendrick for addressing the situation on his album. He views Kendrick as a nephew and understands the rapper’s right to express his feelings.

“That’s my nephew, man,” Snoop said. “He’s a rapper, he’s supposed to speak his mind and tell his truth. That’s the way he felt and he has the right to say that.”

This incident highlights the complexities of social media interactions in the hip-hop world, where even seemingly small actions can have significant repercussions within the community. It also underscores the importance of clear communication and understanding between artists, especially when they’ve collaborated in the past.

While Snoop has moved past this misunderstanding with Kendrick, he remains tight-lipped about other ongoing issues in the rap world.

When asked about Drake taking legal action against Universal Music Group over Kendrick’s diss song “Not Like Us,” Snoop declined to comment, saying only, “On the West, we hold court in the streets, cuh.”
