Leon – Gyokeres – Rice feature in Man United news now

Here is a roundup of the top Manchester United news, gossip and transfer speculation from icfootballnews that we think you guys could have missed…

Leon, who was born in 2007, only made his senior debut for Cerro Porteno in August, but His rise has been rapid since then and he has started 18 league games now this season after breaking into the team. It has lead United to join a host of sides in the race to sign him

It had been claimed that Manchester United were in talks over a deal for the star, but now, According to Fabrizio Romano, the 17-year-old has agreed to join United from July 2025 when he turns 18. The highly-rated teenager is set to join the Red Devils for an initial $4 million (£3m), with up to $4m in add-ons.

His manager Manolo Jimenez has heaped praise on the young talent and expressed his delight he is set for a big move to Old Trafford – He told Versus: “Manchester United have seen in him what I saw, what my teammates saw, I am honestly very happy that this signing can be completed. I hope everything goes well for him in everything that comes.

“He’s a prototype of a full-back in many attacking conditions, with his age, he still has time to improve in his defensive aspect, which is what he has to grow. Surely in Manchester they will give him the right job so that he can develop.

“The day he’s clear about his decision-making, he will be a great player and won’t make mistakes that can’t be criticised. But [these] are typical for his age and his inexperience.”

Is Leon a target for Manchester United or Ruben Amorim? the Portuguese boss is surely keen on adding players that he wants in the side and not the board.

Leon is a talent, that is clear to see, but at the end of the day, United need players that will make an impact now and not in a few seasons, right now, there is no need to sign the wonderkid and this deal will probably be pointless

GYOKERES WARNING SENT

Former Red Devil Teddy Sheringham has come out and warned Manchester United off making a move for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, who is one o fthe most coveted players in Europe right now.

Over the past few months there has been alot of transfer speculation about the players that Ruben Amorim will bring to the club now that he is settled and knows what he needs to improve on, and Gyokeres has been tipped to make the move to Old Trafford.

Amorim helped build Gyokeres into a striker that has the ability to score 30-40 goals a season during his time at Sporting Lisbon, and it is no secret that the Swedish striker is only at the Portuguese giants because of Amorim, and was very upset after his departure.

But despite all the media reports suggesting that Amorim wants Gyokeres, Sheringham doesn’t believe his old club should splash the cash on the Sweden international: “I don’t think it’s imperative for United to move for Viktor Gyokeres at the moment when you’ve got [Rasmus] Hojlund. I think there’s other areas he would prefer to nail down,” Sheringham told Genting Casino.

“I think the club need a left-back. Shaw’s struggling with his injuries. He seems to get one after another, and you can’t pin your hopes on someone like that.

“Another really good midfield player would be great, so I think there are other players and other areas to strengthen that are more important to him than buying another centre forward. As I say, Hojlund is showing good stuff.”

Look, Amorim knows what Gyokeres is capable of, he knows what the striker would bring to Manchester, so if he wants him, he will get him.

Nobody can tell the boss who to sign, so at the end of the day, Gyokeres will be signed if Amorim wants him.

DECLAN RICE WOULD BE STATEMENT

Declan Rice would be a “statement” signing for Manchester United, according to Teddy Sheringham, who claims that the Arsenal midfielder is the type of signing that Ruben Amorim needs to make.

Amorim has been in Manchester for the past few weeks now, and the former Sporting Lisbon boss has had time to figure out what he needs to improve on in the coming transfer windows and which players are no longer needed at the club.

There has been some massive players already linked with a move to Old Trafford ahead of the January window, but amid all that speculation and rumours, former Red Devil Sheringham has opened up and claimed that Declan Rice would have been a great statement signing.

“I said a couple of years ago, Manchester United should have got Declan Rice. If they went out and bought Declan Rice off of Arsenal, that’d make me laugh, because that’d obviously make Arsenal weaker and make Man United even stronger,” Sheringham told Genting Casino.

“He’s a proper player that leads by example. That’s the type of player that you need in your football club. When you’re making a statement about a new manager coming in and buying new players, that is the type of player you buy. Declan Rice all day.”

Rice choose the club that he believed would give him the better chances of winning trophies as Man United have not been the same since Sir Alex Ferguson decided to pack in the managerial game, United fans would have loved to sign the player.

We dont know who Ruben Amorim will look to sign in the coming windows, we dont know how much money he will get, but if they can sign players that are close to the quality of the Arsenal player, they will become a threat for that Premier League title.

Rice would have been brilliant, it really is that simple.
