Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is keen to keep hold of ‘one of the best defenders’ Ronald Araujo amid transfer interest from the likes of ARSENAL as the Premier League giants look to add to their squad this transfer window
A serious hamstring problem meant Araujo missed the first half of this season and he made his long-awaited return in Barca’s 4-0 victory over Barbastro in the Copa del Rey last month, but there has been reports that he is one player that could be moved on.
Barcelona are struggling financially and have been linked with selling a number of players in order to help balance the books, and keep players at the club that they really want to build a future with.
A report from Mundo Deportivo stated that Araujo is interested in a move to the Premier League this month and has been open with his team-mates in the Barcelona dressing room that he is strongly considering a January exit.
However – amid all the speculation and rumours, Flick is keen to keep hold of ‘one of the best defenders’: ‘I want Araujo in my team because he is one of the best defenders,’ Flick said. ‘He’s a professional and is now fit, having recovered from his injury, so he can help us.’
He added: ‘I have told the team: there is only outside noise, you have to be cohesive and strong. It’s a great season, we’ve done well in general, although we haven’t reached the points we wanted.
‘It’s good to learn from all the games and this is the objective. We have to be focused. We played well for the club and we can do better. It’s what we want.’

ARSENAL have one of the best defences in the Premier League, they are rock solid and adding to that may mean that someone has to sit on the bench more often than they would like.
They dont really need Araujo unless a big star leaves, and since that is not happening, they will not be too disappointed with the words of Flick
