Guehi and Reitan all feature in Chelsea news gossip

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed today…

Spanish star Marc Guia has opened up and revealed that he is very happy with his decision to join CHELSEA in the summer, after he made the shock decision to leave Barcelona.

Guiu has barely had a sniff this term despite impressing over the club’s pre-season tour of the United States over the summer. Signed for as little as £5million from Barcelona, the 18-year-old striker has made only a handful appearances in all competitions this season for the Blues.

There has been some reports in the media that Chelsea could look to loan him to a Championship side to try and get him some invaluable experience playing English football and becoming more accustomed to the physicality required.

However – the young Spaniard has confirmed that he is very happy at Chelsea – he told the club website: ‘So far, it’s been an amazing journey,’ he reflects on his start to life at Stamford Bridge.

‘I’m very happy. There are a lot of young players and a lot of staff at the club that are helping me to get to know everyone, and how things work. They’ve all been super welcoming.

‘My objective now is to win as many trophies as I can, and contribute as many goals as I can to the team.’

Many questioned why Guia would make the move to CHELSEA – why he did not stay at Barcelona and try to break into that Barca side – this has not been the move that he needed.

He needs game time, he needs minutes and he needs to play on a regular basis, if that is not happening at Stamford Bridge – then a loan move is the right thing to do for the lad that is for sure.

He may be happy at Chelsea and his decision, but a move away may be the best thing for him right now

REITAN DEAL DONE

CHELSEA have officially announced that an option to extend Guro Reiten’s contract until 2026 has been triggered and the 50 goals star will stay at the club

The Blues posted on the club website: ‘Since joining from LSK Kvinner in her native Norway in 2019, the 30-year-old has established herself as a key component to the Blues’ success. She has played a pivotal role in helping the club win five Women’s Super League titles, three FA Cups, two League Cups, and the Community Shield.

‘A versatile left-footed player, Reiten has made 177 appearances for Chelsea to date and recently surpassed 50 goals scored, reaching the milestone in a UEFA Champions League match against FC Twente.

‘Reiten is the third top goalscorer in our current squad and our fifth all-time top scorer in the WSL with 35 goals in 102 appearances, having recently reached the century landmark against Manchester United in November 2024.

‘Last season, she enjoyed a strong end to the campaign as the Blues lifted a fifth consecutive league trophy. A standout display against Bristol City saw Reiten score four goals in an emphatic 8-0 win, a victory which helped put the club in pole position to retain our WSL title.

‘The Norway international’s contributions on the pitch have been acknowledged with a number of individual accolades since her move to London.

‘In 2022, she won the Norwegian Golden Ball and was named in the PFA Team of the Year for the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, while also being nominated for the prestigious Ballon d’Or.

‘This season, Reiten won November’s WSL Player of the Month award and was also included in the 77-player shortlist for The Best FIFA Women’s XI.

‘On the international stage, Reiten has represented her country at two European Championships and two World Cups. She has scored 21 goals for Norway – who she has also captained on several occasions – and is closing in on 100 appearances.

‘Everyone at CHELSEA wishes to congratulate Guro and we look forward to seeing her continue to thrive in blue.’

CHELSEA MAKE GUEHI MOVE

Crystal Palace have dropped their asking price for Marc Guehi this January transfer window after CHELSEA reportedly made an opening offer to sign the defender before the close of the winter window.

Chelsea have had a better start to the new season than many people expected and are firmly now in the chase to win those Champions League spots, which will be a massive achievement for the club this season.

However – Enzo Maresca has a number of injury issues that he needs to contend with over the next few months, so adding a new defender to the squad is something that has been on the mind of the Italian boss, and Guehi is a player that the club reportedly wants.

Over the past few seasons, Guehi has developed into one of the most consistent players in the Premier League and a defender that has been constantly linked with all the big clubs because of his outstanding performances.

The Sun say Chelsea recently made an opening offer for the 24-year-old which was deemed as a ‘silly’ figure by Palace, but have dropped their asking price for the defender to £55 million.

The south London side – currently just 15th in the Premier League, five points above the relegation zone – were holding out for £70m but have reportedly dropped their asking price to around £15m as Guehi has entered the final 18 months of his contract

Look, Guehi needs to make that move to one of the big clubs, he needs to make that step up in the game, and Chelsea could be the ideal place for him to get some much needed experience as they are a side that is on the up.

If that asking price has been brought down, CHELSEA will still need to sell players before they can get a transfer deal done for the player
