Corberan leaves West Brom for Valencia

Carlos Corberan has been confirmed as Valencia’s new head coach.

Corberan replaces the sacked Ruben Baraja, with Valencia sitting 19th in LaLiga having won just two matches this season.

Valencia reportedly paid West Brom around £3million to activate a release clause in Corberan’s contract.

Corberan had been in charge at The Hawthorns since October 2022, having joined from Huddersfield Town, who he led to third place in the Championship in the 2021-22 season.

West Brom finished ninth in the second tier in 2022-23, and fifth in the following campaign, before being knocked out in the play-off semi-finals. They sit seventh as it stands this term.

Shilen Patel, West Brom’s chairman, wrote on X: “I want to thank Carlos for all of his hard work since his arrival at the Albion at one of the most challenging times in the club’s modern era.

“I am grateful for his contributions and wish Carlos and his family all the best on his new journey!”

Corberan, who has signed on at Valencia until the end of the 2026-27 season, leaves West Brom having won 47 of his 107 games in charge in all competitions (43.93%).

His first game in charge of Valencia will be against Real Madrid on January 3.
