January 8 – The quarter-finals of the AFC Women’s Champions League 2024/25 were set on Wednesday at AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, mapping out the road to crown Asia’s first-ever women’s club champion. The draw featured eight teams battling for the prestigious title, which will conclude in May.
The eight clubs advancing from the group stage include champions and group winners from across Asia, such as Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies, Australia’s Melbourne City FC, Korea Republic’s Hyundai Steel Red Angels, and Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC, alongside their challengers Wuhan Jiangda (China PR), Taichung Blue Whale (Chinese Taipei), Bam Khatoon (Iran), and Abu Dhabi Country Club (UAE).
The single leg quarter-final ties will be played on March 22 and 23 across various locations, with higher-seeded teams earning hosting rights.
The semi-finals and final – all single-leg ties – will be played at an unannounced centralised venue on May 21-24.
Quarter-Final Matchups:
Group C winners and AFC Women’s Club Championship 2023 champions Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies of Japan will face Wuhan Jiangda Women’s FC of China PR.
Australia’s Melbourne City FC, who topped Group B with a perfect record, will take on Taichung Blue Whale Women’s Football Team of Chinese Taipei.
Group A winners Hyundai Steel Red Angels Women’s FC of Korea Republic were drawn to play Islamic Republic of Iran’s Bam Khatoon FC.
Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC, who finished second in Group C, will host Abu Dhabi Country Club of the United Arab Emirates.
The AFC Women’s Champions League aims to elevate women’s football in Asia by showcasing the best clubs and crowning the region’s first continental champion. The stage is set for one of these teams to carve their name into Women’s football history.
