January 10 – The qualification tournaments for the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup China 2025 kicks off this Saturday, with 18 nations competing for nine slots.
Nations have been divided into four groups hosted in Thailand, Indonesia, Uzbekistan and Myanmar.
The top two finishers in each group, and the overall best-ranked third-placed team, will progress to the Finals and join hosts China and 2018’s finalists, Iran and Japan.
This is the first time that a qualifying campaign is being held for the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup, its third edition. Iran were champions in both 2015 and 2018.
The top three finishers at China 2025 (May 7-18) will qualify for the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025, to be hosted by the Philippines – who have automatically qualified.
In the China 2025 qualifying rounds Bahrain (world ranked 36) and Lebanon (29) meet in the first match of the qualifiers at Nonthaburi Stadium in group A. The West Asian duo both made their tournament debuts in. Reigning West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Women’s Futsal Championship winners Iraq (53) play next against Palestine (34); group hosts Thailand (6) – the highest-ranked team in Asia and champions of all five Southeast Asian Games to date – begin their qualifying campaign on January 13 against Palestine.
Group B starts on January 15 at the Among Rogo Sports Hall in Yogyakarta with Hong Kong (31) against India (unranked). Quarter-finalists on their debut in 2018, and group hosts Indonesia (24) meet Kyrgyz Republic (69).
Group C kicks off on January 11 with Australia (unranked) against Turkmenistan (38) at the Yunusobod Sports Complex in Tashkent, followed by Kuwait (61) and the Philippines (59). Hosts and 2018 quarter finalists Uzbekistan (18) open on January 13 against the Philippines.
Group D opens in Yangon’s MFF FutsalIndoor Stadium with Chinese Taipei (25), who reached the last four on their debut in 2018, and Macau (45), who also made their maiden appearance at the last edition. ASEAN Women’s Futsal Champions Vietnam (11) are looking to return to the finals for a third time and start qualification against home side Myanmar (37).
