Tyler Adams misses Bournemouth match due to “small” muscle injury

Tyler Adams did not feature in Bournemouth’s final match of 2024 on Sunday, but isn’t expected to miss much time heading into the new year.

Adams did not dress as the Cherries drew Fulham 2-2 at Craven Cottage in English Premier League play. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder has been diagnosed with a slight muscle injury, which he suffered in Bournemouth’s 0-0 home Boxing Day draw with Crystal Palace.

“He finished injured the other day, when he played the game against Palace,” manager Andoni Iraola said in a press conference in London on Sunday. “It’s not something big. I think it’s a small muscle [injury], rotator or something like this, but obviously he was injured.”

Adams, 25, missed the opening two months of the season but has returned to play a consistent role for Bournemouth. He’s started in five of his nine league appearances this winter, helping the Cherries to a current top-half spot in the league table.

Injuries plagued Adams’ first season on the South Coast before the USMNT veteran returned for the Copa America last summer. However, Adams fought through a back injury, which eventually led to offseason surgery.

Sixth-place Bournemouth will open its 2025 schedule at the Vitality Stadium against Everton.
