Barcelona will not be able to register CHELSEA, Liverpool and Arsenal target Dani Olmo, after a Spanish court rejected an appeal, meaning the former RB Leipzig winger may not be able to play for the club from January 1.
The 26-year-old, who helped Spain win Euro 2024, joined Barcelona from Leipzig in August but he was only registered for the first half of the season as Barcelona could not meet La Liga’s wage cap restrictions.
Barcelona registered Olmo after their squad was hit by long-term injuries, allowing the club to allocate a portion of wages to register the player. His four-month allowance will expire at the end of December and the Spanish court rejected the club’s request to provisionally register him.
The Commercial Court No 10 has rejected Barcelona’s request for provisional registration of Olmo until June 2025, a ruling welcomed by La Liga.
“La Liga has today learned of the ruling… rejecting the request for the provisional registration of Dani Olmo until June 30, 2025, on the grounds that none of the necessary conditions for the adoption of an interim measure have been met,” said the Spanish league in a statement on Friday.
“The ruling also stresses that ‘the purpose of allowing additional spending is so that a long-term injury does not weaken the team’s competitiveness, not to use a long-term injury to allow the registration of players whose salaries exceed the limit, which is what FC Barcelona is attempting’.”

The news that Barcelona may not be able to register the gifted Spaniard means that the Premier League clubs may now have a chance to sign the midfielder in January, and if they were able to get him all signed up, it could be one of the best January bargains that we have seen in recent seasons.
CHELSEA, Arsenal and Liverpool will be keeping a very close eye on this situation, the January window is only a few weeks away.
WHEELER-HENRY SIGNS UP
Defender Joseph Wheeler-Henry has signed his first professional contract with CHELSEA, the Blues have announced on the club website this week.
‘As he navigates his first full season at Under-18s level, Wheeler-Henry has established himself in Hassan Sulaiman’s squad and featured across our 2024/25 Under-17 and Under-18 Premier League Cup campaigns, as well as league fixtures.
‘He also came on as a substitute in Chelsea’s first FA Youth Cup fixture of the season, helping secure a 3-2 victory over Leicester City.
‘Congratulations, Joseph!’

The lad is a serious talent and fans are delighted to see that he has agreed to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge, he fully deserves it and now hopefully he will push on to challenge for a regular place in that first starting eleven.
However – the problem that he has is that the club have so many quality players at the club already that it will take some time for him to get the chances he needs to prove himself.
And with CHELSEA making signings pretty much every window, well hopefully he does not get lost in the system guys as the club have seen so many talents in previous seasons have to leave the club because they have not been given the chances to prove themselves.
But as we said, the lad is very talented and he is must be very happy right now that he has signed that big contract.
STERLING MAKES JANUARY DECISION
CHELSEA star Raheem Sterling has no plans to end his Arsenal loan spell early, despite the winger’s lack of minutes under Mikel Arteta, according to the latest reports on the Daily Mirror this weekend.
Sterling joined CHELSEA from Man City in 2022 for a fee of £47.5million, with the England international tallying 31 direct goal contributions [19 goals, 12 assists] in 81 appearances for the Blues.
However – the decision was made in the summer transfer window that he would be allowed to leave Chelsea and make the loan move to Arsenal, who were interested in adding a bit more depth to that Gunners side.
But Blues winger Sterling, 30, has failed to make much of an impact on the pitch since joining the Gunners in a temporary switch back in August. He has played 11 games for Mikel Arteta’s side to date, registering just one goal and two assists for Arsenal.
Sterling was handed a rare start in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace last week – but he’s struggled for minutes across the Premier League and Champions League – and is regularly an unused substitute.
Despite his lack of game time, though, Chelsea have decided they will not recall Sterling from his season-long loan at the Emirates in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic.
And the Daily Mirror has claimed that the winger has also made the decision that he wants to stay at Arsenal for the remainders of the season, especially as Bukayo Saka could be out of action for some time.

Sterling is done at CHELSEA, he is probably done at the very highest level of the game and his next move could be the MLS or Saudi Arabia, as they could meet his massive wage demands.
Chelsea need to sell the player at the end of the season, get those wages off the books and bring in some fresh talent. He is happy at Arsenal, even though he is not playing, so that could be his last big club that he plays for.
