Chelsea news gossip: Olmo – Nkunku

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you guys could have missed today…

There has been some stunning rumours emerge in the media this week which may give the likes of CHELSEA the chance to sign Dani Olmo from Barcelona in the January window, as the Spaniards may be forced to sell the midfielder.

The former RB Leipzig playmaker has warmed to life at the Camp Nou, notching six goals in 12 appearances across all competitions from the heart of Barcelona’s midfield. He has definitely proven his worth to summer managerial appointment, Hansi Flick.

However – the Spaniard had only been registered for an initial six-month period, and the Catalans face another race against time to register their man for the second half of the season.

The news will alert a number of sides in the Premier League to a possible deal for one of the most creative players in La Liga right now, and a player that Chelsea were very much interested in signing before the decision was made to make the move to Barcelona.

But as per the report from Mundo Deportivo, there is a unique clause in Olmo’s contract which indicates that should the player not be registered for the club in future windows, he would then be able to depart as a free agent.

It shows just what kind of financial difficulty that Barcelona are in that they may have to let one of the clubs most creative players leave because they cannot register him, it would be mad.

However – despite the latest rumours, we believe that this will all be sorted out and Olmo will end up staying at the club, especially as there are a number of players in the side that could generate enough money from being sold that this would not be an issue.

It is crazy to think that he could leave for nothing though.

MARESCA WANTS KEEP NKUNKU

CHELSEA manager Enzo Maresca has expressed his desire to keep forward Christopher Nkunku at Stamford Bridge amid speculation about a potential transfer when the January transfer window opens in just a few days time.

Only afforded starts in cup competitions, the Frenchman has still been impressive, notching up nine goals in seven games in the Carabao Cup and Conference League combined.

However – with his Premier League minutes being limited by Enzo Maresca, there has been some shock reports in the media which have claimed that a move to Man United, PSG and Barcelona could be on the cards, as the clubs are reportedly interested in a deal for the French star.

However – despite the lack of Premier League minutes, despite the fact the player is unhappy and despite all the transfer rumours, Maresca has now come out and admitted that he would like the Frenchman to stay at the club in January.

“We like Christo and we want him here,” Maresca said.

“There will always be players that are not happy and some that will ask to leave in January. I am not sure if they will be Christo’s or another player’s case. We want to keep them here because we are happy with them here.”

Nkunku has shown himself to be very effective in Europe and has scored quite a few goals, but Nicolas Jackson is the man for the Premier League and the Frenchman will not get the minutes that he desires.

We would be shocked to see him leave CHELSEA in the January transfer window, but if the right offer arrives, the player may feel that he needs to asks his boss if he can leave, he needs to be playing.

Maresca may want the player, but there is no point in keeping someone that doesnt actually want to be at Stamford Bridge

STERLING DECISION MADE

CHELSEA have reportedly made a decision over Raheem Sterling ahead of the January transfer window amid his disappointing loan spell at Arsenal, as they will not be bringing the winger back to Stamford Bridge next month.

sterlingSterling joined Chelsea from Man City in 2022 for a fee of £47.5million, with the England international tallying 31 direct goal contributions [19 goals, 12 assists] in 81 appearances for the Blues.

However – the decision was made in the summer transfer window that he would be allowed to leave Chelsea and make the loan move to Arsenal, who were interested in adding a bit more depth to that Gunners side.

But Blues winger Sterling, 30, has failed to make much of an impact on the pitch since joining the Gunners in a temporary switch back in August. He has played 11 games for Mikel Arteta’s side to date, registering just one goal and two assists for Arsenal.

Sterling was handed a rare start in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace last week – but he’s struggled for minutes across the Premier League and Champions League – and is regularly an unused substitute.

Despite his lack of game time, though, Chelsea have decided they will not recall Sterling from his season-long loan at the Emirates in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic.

Sterling himself is also thought to be happy to remain at Arsenal amid his lack of action, having become a popular figure in the club’s dressing room.

Sterling does not want to return to Chelsea, the Blues dont want to bring him back to the club, we are sure that he has played his last game for CHELSEA and come the end of the season, he will leave the club on a more permanent basis.

And with Bukayo Saka now out for a while, Sterling could get a few more games over the next few weeks.
