Manchester United target Ben Chilwell  have been tipped to lead a mini-exodus from CHELSEA once the mid-season transfer window opens in a matter of days, according to BBC Sport.

He has been plagued by injuries over the past few seasons and after impressing at the Euros – Marc Cucurella is now the number one left-back for Enzo Maresca this season and for the immediate future

The Talksport website recently claimed that Manchester United may be interested in signing Chilwell this transfer window, But may not be interested in paying his £40 million asking price that has been placed by Chelsea.

However – the BBC website has claimed that Chilwell could be one of a number of players that Chelsea sell in order to help finance the books a little bit.

A loan is also a possibility for Cesare Casadei, with Feyenoord and Monza both named as suitors. Home-grown talent Harvey Vale is available for a permanent exit six months before his contract expires. Fellow youngster Alex Matos is the fifth who could go.

Enzo Maresca opened up at the end of the smmer and revealed that Chilwell was free to leave the club – Commenting on the left-back, Maresca said: ““Chilly [Chilwell] is with us but he has not been training for the last few days because he has been ill.

“The reason he did not play versus Inter [Milan] was because, with Chilly it is quite clear, even though I love the way he is, the problem is, he is struggling a bit to find the right position.

“This morning we had 22 players training and if you ask all of them they will say they want to play against City on Sunday.

“But that is impossible. When you train every day and do not get any minutes it is not good for them or for me.

“I need to make a decision and probably it is better to leave and go and get minutes. The transfer window is open so we’ll see what happens.”

JONATHAN DAVID BOOST GIVEN

It seems that long-term CHELSEA transfer target Jonathan David not a player that Barcelona are interested in signing over the next couple of transfer windows as a possible replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

David has earned a reputation as one of the finest strikers in Europe’s top five leagues. The 24-year-old has scored 97 goals in 202 appearances for the Ligue 1 giants. His displays alone have caught the attention of some of the biggest teams in the game.

He has scored 13 goals for Lille this season and with Chelsea seemingly still interested in adding a new striker to that attack, there has been talk that the Blues are ready to open up negotiations with the striker and come to some sort of pre-agreement deal that sees him get signed at the end of the season.

It had been reported on many occasions that Barcelona are very much interested in holding talks with David during the January window about a potential move at the end of the season, as the ageing Lewandowski cannot play forever.

However, Barcelona have now taken David off their list as they believe that the Canadian striker is not the right profile for Hansi Flick’s current side, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalans had been interested in David after he revealed that playing for Barcelona was his “dream.”

David has been linked with a whole host of big clubs for the last few seasons, there is alot of interest in the player, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

CHELSEA are one of the clubs that are interested, it seems that the board are keen to sign David on a free, but as we said, he will have plenty of options in the coming windows and needs to make the right career choice.

But we would not be surprised to see him snub a move to the Premier League that is for sure.

LEAO MAKES CHELSEA DECISION

Rafael Leao is not interested in a move to the likes of CHELSEA in the January transfer window amid all the speculation that a move for the AC Milan star could happen.

LeaoThe 25-year-old winger, widely regarded as one of the most exciting attacking talents in world football, has developed into one of the most creative players in Seria A over the past few seasons

Enjoying his sixth year at the San Siro, Leao has well and truly settled into life in Milan following a 2019 switch from Lille and his performances in Italy have caught the attention of some of Europe’s elite teams, including Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea.

Leao is tied into a deal with Milan until 2028 and reports have suggested the Portugal international had an eye-watering €175m (£150m) release clause – which would have to be paid in full by potential suitors to force a move.

But the forward faces an uncertain future at AC Milan after losing his guaranteed starting spot under manager Paulo Foneseca this season, and there has been some reports that a move may happen in the January window.

However –  a move to the Premier League is not of in his plans, according to MilanLive and he would prefer to stay in Italian football or make the move to La Liga, where Barcelona remain keen.

There has been some reports that Enzo Maresca is looking to add some more quality to that attack, and Leao could definitely do that judging by his performances over the past few seasons.

But again, he is not really the type of player that Maresca needs and CHELSEA need to sign a striker, not another winger that can play in a number of positions.

Leao would not be a better option that what the club have now.
