Chelsea news gossip: Duran – Palmer

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you guys could have missed today…

There has been some fresh reports in the media which have claimed that CHELSEA could reignite their interest in Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran in the Janaury window, and try to tempt the Villians into selling the young forward.

The Colombian striker, 21, was heavily linked with Chelsea in the summer transfer window as the Blues were prepared to pay big money for the young man, but despite all the speculation and rumours, the Blues opted to not make a move for Duran and stick with what thet had.

He now has 12 goals in 25 appearances this term after notching against Manchester City, who fell to a 2-1 defeat at Villa Park, and very much looks like the player Chelsea believed he could be, which is why reports have claimed that the Blues could reignite their interest.

Chelsea have started the season in great fashion and are firmly in the chase for that Premier League title, but despite all their quality in attack, there is still a feeling that Nicolas Jackson is not the man that could bang in 30 goals a season.

And according to reports, Chelsea could tempt Villa into selling Duran with a massive £80 million offer, the fee that they were asking for during the summer transfer window.

The uncle of Aston Villa star and CHELSEA target Jhon Duran recently opened up and claimed that he is hoping that the striker could earn himself a big time move in the future if he continues to score the goals he has been this season.

Speaking to Gol Caracol, he said: “We are talking about a player who, if he has his feet on the ground, if he lets himself be guided by his advisors, will be very great because he is very young and is not yet mature as an athlete.”

“If his behaviour was not the best, it is normal; you have to let him see it and he will correct it. Having character is different from seeing or believing that others are less than me.”

“Not speaking to people is not character for me, but because I am related to him and have known him since I was a child we believe that we have already achieved everything and since he is young, he may suddenly think that, but I have enormous faith that he is going to correct his behaviour.”

“Jhon Jader is still a 20-year-old boy and there is a lot of room for improvement. When he plays as a starter, he will be among the top scorers in any league he plays in. God gave him virtues that he has to take advantage of and polish, such as his aerial game or getting behind the backs of defenders.

CHELSEA TO GET RUBEN DIAS CHANCE

CHELSEA may be able to get long-term Target Ruben Dias in the January window, as Manchester City will reportedly listen to offers for Portuguese centre-half Ruben Dias, as they seek to rebuild their side.

Man City resisted the urge to really splash the cash in the summer 2024 transfer window, and despite a very good start to the new season, injuries, poor performances and an ageing squad means that the Champions are really struggling.

They have only won one of their last 11 games and are well off in the race for that Premier League title, and there are rumours that Man City will look to splash the cash in the January window in order to get the club back into winning ways.

But they will have to sell a number of first team players, and Ruben Dias is one of the stars that could look to be cashed in on, as the ageing star is not the same player that he once was, but is still one of the best in the Premier League.

Now, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has opened up and claimed that Man City could sell half of their squad in a massive revamp, he has said in the Daily Record: “They are generally achieving their targets and something that gets the renewed target of this season is top four. That is what City want to do. That is the target they have all put I their head. I think they will achieve that. They are not that far away at the moment. You are talking about an achievable target.

“They want to recover the essence of the team, the look of the team. But quite clearly Pep Guardiola is going to use the last two years of his contract – which are probably be the last two of his career as a club manager – to prepare a new Manchester City. I have got a very clear idea that they will want to get rid of five or six regular starters for Manchester City and bring five or six new starters. Half of the team. It is a new era. The end of this one and a new era starting.

“The cycle is over but remember that only a month-and-a-half ago they had not lost a game and were top of the table. But that in my eyes is what is happening. That is what they are going to do next.”

PALMER WILL COST OVER £200m

Reporter Iomie Stanley has come out and claimed that it will take over £200 million for anybody to try and prise Cole Palmer away from CHELSEA if he continues to impress like he has been this season.

He told icfootballnews: ‘Cole Palmer has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young talents in the Premier League since his move to Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer of 2023.

‘Having made an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge, Palmer is now seen as a vital part of Chelsea’s long-term project under Enzo Maresca. As rumors swirl about potential interest from Europe’s top clubs, the reality is that any club looking to prise Palmer away will need to break the bank—likely paying over £200 million to secure his signature.

‘Chelsea’s recent spending spree under Todd Boehly’s ownership has shown that the club is not afraid to invest heavily in young talent, and they will be equally reluctant to sell rising stars like Palmer. Having secured him for a relatively modest £40 million from Manchester City, his market value has skyrocketed after his performances at Chelsea.

‘In a market where top talents such as Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice have commanded transfer fees of £100 million or more, Palmer’s age, potential, and Premier League experience would easily push his price tag beyond the £200 million mark.

‘Moreover, with CHELSEA not under any financial pressure to sell, they would only consider letting Palmer leave for an astronomical fee. The club’s focus is on building a squad capable of challenging for titles in the coming years, and Palmer is seen as a key player in achieving those goals. Selling him would require an offer that not only matches his current and future value but also reflects his importance to Chelsea’s vision.

‘As Palmer continues to shine, it’s no surprise that clubs across Europe are keeping a close eye on him. Teams like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain could be tempted to test Chelsea’s resolve with a massive bid.

‘However, given his importance to the club and the Premier League’s premium on English talent, any interested suitors would have to come prepared with a world-record offer.

‘For now, Chelsea appear committed to holding on to their new star, but if any club does come knocking, they’ll need to break the bank—£200 million or more—to make it happen’
