CHELSEA and Arsenal are the only two clubs who could afford to sign Newcastle United star Alexander Isak, according to finance expert Stefan Borson as the big forward continues to be linked with a massive move
After a stunning season last year for the Toon, Isak has really stepped up his game this campaign and firmly established himself as one of the most dangerous strikers in the Premier League, and a player that many clubs are interested in signing.
However – Newcastle do not want to lose their star man, and have put a massive £150 million price tag on the head of Isak, a fee that many clubs will be put off by because of that financial fair play regulations.
But, Borson has claimed that only Arsenal and Chelsea have the financial power to sign the big Swedish star: “How many teams can really afford the fee that would be required on Isak if it was £120-150million? There are very few clubs and nobody would do a deal of that size in January, in my view,” he said via Football Insider.
“Maybe if Chelsea have managed to find the intra-group deals to get themselves in a safe position from a PSR perspective, maybe that’s something they would look at in the summer. But I cannot see that they could do it before 30 June.
“Who else is going to spend £150million? Arsenal are probably the only team that could do that deal in world football, assuming that Isak is not going to Saudi Arabia.
“That’s the problem with those deals. There are just so few clubs that have the resources to do those deals. If you have got a market of one or two clubs in the world, you have clearly got an issue in trying to sell a player if you want to do it.”
