ARSENAL are still working hard on contract negotiations with midfielder Thomas Partey after both the club and the Ghanaian international turned down a potential move to Saudi Arabia during the summer transfer window.
Partey’s current deal is due to expire in 2025 and discussions over a possible extension at the Emirates did not happen over the summer as many believed that he would get that move away from the Premier League giants.
The Ghana international was limited in his starts for the club last season because of injury, and there were mane reports that Arsenal were deciding whether to cash in on the player in the summer or risk losing him on a free transfer in just over a year’s time.
But according to Fichajes – after deciding to keep Partey at the club during the summer window, talks were opened over a new contract a few weeks ago and talks are still progressing before the opening of the January window.
He is expected to be offered a two-year contract extension, which would keep him at the Emirates until the age of 33. Mikel Arteta and his coaching staff are reportedly strong supporters of Partey and are eager to keep him as a key part of their squad as they continue to challenge for Premier League success.

When Partey is fit – he is a very solid addition to that squad – but he is never fit anymore and the Gunners need to get rid.
He has a good start to the new season – and to be honest, if he is able to stay fit for the rest of the season, he is a very good player to have in the side because he offers the side soo much.
And if ARSENAL can get him to sign a new contract, at least they could get some money in the summer if he wants out.
