Arsenal news gossip: Rashford – Duran

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news gossip, and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed today…

ARSENAL have approached Manchester United over a potential deal for Marcus Rashford, according to reports in Italy, despite many media outlets believing that the attacker could make the move to AC Milan.

Rashford has not played for United for nearly a month now and several weeks on from saying he wanted a “new challenge”. The England international is reportedly more likely to leave on loan in January, with AC Milan among the sides keeping tabs on him.

Rashford’s brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, travelled to Italy this week to hold talks with AC Milan but an agreement has not been reached with the Serie A club. But during an appearance on Sky Sports Italy’s show ‘Calciomercato l’Originale’, Massimo Marianella reported that Arsenal have held initial talks with United for Rashford.

Marianella added that United are demanding a €25 million (£20.9m) fee for the 27-year-old.

Amid all the speculation and rumours that Arsenal are interested in adding to the squad this January, Emmanuel Petit has told the Gunners that they should add the England winger to the attack: ‘Marcus Rashford would be an interesting signing for Arsenal,’ Petit said.

‘I’m very frustrated with Gabriel Martinelli’s performances at the moment, he’s very inconsistent and it’s annoying to watch. He’s been like a ghost on the pitch.

‘Competition for a spot in the XI is important for ARSENAL , look at Liverpool’s bench, the quality they have is amazing.

‘I know Nico Williams has been linked, but I’m told he’ll never come to the Premier League if he leaves Athletic Bilbao, he’d only go to Barcelona.

‘The Raheem Sterling gamble has not worked. Rashford, if he’s in the team and playing football in a good environment with a manager who trusts him, you will see the best of him.

‘Is that manager Mikel Arteta? If I’m him, I would definitely have an eye on that situation at Manchester United.

‘He’s not the same player from two years ago, but we all know the level he can reach, quality like that doesn’t just disappear.’

ARSENAL MAKE DURAN ENQUIRY

ARSENAL and Chelsea have both enquired about Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran and have requested to know the conditions of a sale, according to Caught Offside.

Duran, who was linked with Chelsea and West Ham over the summer, has scored 12 goals so far this season, helping Villa continue their impressive form after they finished fourth last term.

Reports says the Gunners are still lacking an ‘outstanding number nine’ and believes Duran would be an ideal addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad, although it may be difficult to get the striker signed in the January window.

Duran has started the last few games for Aston Villa because of his impressive performances for the club, so he is now firmly establishing himself as the first choice option for Unai Emery and a man that could lead that attack for years.

And it seems that Arsenal have contacted Aston Villa about a potential deal for Duran, but have been knocked back as Villa have no intention of selling the player.

Asked who he thinks Arsenal should try and sign, reporter Iomie Stanley told icfootballnews that Duran is the player Arsenal should go for: ‘I think the Gunners should make a tempting offer to sign Duran from Aston Villa..

‘He looks a real handful and a bit different from the rest. He’s got that good presence about him. Arsenal take a chance on him, he looks like the real deal and a player that could develop into of the best forwards in the Premier League.

‘What I look for is people who are hungry, and he’s got that. In terms of the big boys, ARSENAL haven’t got an outstanding No. 9 and needs to make sure that they improve that department in January or at the end of the season

‘I also like Alexander Isak, he would be another good option for the Gunners to sign, I was really impressed with his performance against Ipswich at the weekend, he looks a handful. You can’t just go by one game, but he looks a threat.’

JORGINHO HOLDS ARSENAL EXIT TALKS

ARSENAL midfielder Jorginho’s agent has held exploratory transfer talks with Brazilian giants Palmeiras, as the ageing midfielder looks set to finally depart the club this month or at the end of the season.

Jorginho as been at the club for the past few seasons now and is a real asset to the club as he brings alot of experience and quality to that Gunners midfield, but there has been alot of speculation surrounding his future.

The Italian was heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal during the summer window – he was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia – but in the end, despite all the speculation and rumours – he stayed put.

But that has not stopped rumours that he could leave Arsenal in the coming transfer windows – as he is no longer a regular starter in the side – with reports suggesting that he could go into coaching or make that move to Saudi Arabia.

ESPN report that Joao Santos is gathering potential options ahead of the 33-year-old’s contract expiry this summer, and discussions have been described as preliminary and Palmeiras are yet to submit a formal offer.

IcFootballnews View…

Jorginho may not be a regular starter for ARSENAL – but he is a quality player to have in the side so the news that he plans on staying put is massive – he is a player that Mikel Arteta can really rely on over the course of the season.

But at this stage of his career, he wants to enjoy himself a bit before he hangs up his boots and this is not a shock to see that Jorginho could be in his last season at Arsenal.

But if he does leave, Fans will wish him the best as he has been a pretty good signing for the Gunners.
