Arsenal news gossip: Isak – Ferguson

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you guys could have missed today…

ARSENAL are reportedly plotting a move for Evan Ferguson despite the Brighton forward’s poor form this season, as they seek to add a new kind of striker to that already impressive attack

During the summer transfer window, there was alot of transfer speculation that Arsenal could make a move to try and acquire the services of Ferguson, who is rated as one of the best young forwards in the Premier League.

There was talk that a £150 million valuation was set on the young mans shoulders, but in the end, the option to stay at Brighton was took as clubs did not want to pay silly money in order to get the young man all signed up.

The Telegraph report that Brighton have made the decision to allow Ferguson to depart the club until the end of the season in order to get some first team minutes, and would like the star to stay in the Premier League

And according to reports on the Goal website, Arsenal are now considering a move to sign the young striker on a try-before-they buy basis.

His boss was recently answeing questions on the player’s future after only starting two games in the Premier League so far this season: “He needs to get back on the pitch,” Hurzeler said.

“Like I said, the rumours, I won’t discuss them in the public. It is important that the players knows our idea and we are honest with each other, to find the right solution for the club and in the end also for the player.

“I am really happy is in our squad and I am hoping he will be back on the pitch as soon as possible.”

COLE MAKES ARSENAL ADMISSION

Ashley Cole says being ‘disrespected’ and ‘shafted’ by Arsenal during contract negotiations and that is why he made the decision to move across London and join bitter rivals CHELSEA.

After coming through Arsenal’s academy, Cole made over 200 first-team appearances for his boyhood club, lifting two Premier League trophies and three FA Cups.

After his acrimonious departure from Arsenal, Cole went on to enjoy even more success at Chelsea, helping the Blues win another Premier League trophy, four more FA Cups, the Europa League and the Champions League

Arsenal wanted Cole to extend his stay at the club but the defender says he was ‘shafted’ after being offered a less lucrative contract than he was ‘promised’, and he has admitted that he felt ‘disrespected’ by the Gunners and as a result joined CHELSEA on a contract worth more than £100,000-a-week.

‘My situation was I knew what I was worth,’ Cole said on That Peter Crouch Podcast. ‘If you don’t want to pay it, no problem.

‘But we did agree to pay it. Everything was agreed and then they pulled the rug [from] under me. They broke their promise – I couldn’t tell you why.

‘It was hard [to leave]. People [don’t] understand the pressure that I was under to leave or to stay.

‘Ultimately I felt disrespected, this is my point of view, I felt disrespected.

‘It is what it is, but sometimes when I speak to fans [and they say], “You left, you hurt me”, I’m like, “Hold up”. People don’t realise that I was the one who got hurt the most.

‘That was my boyhood club, I’d been living the dream. But I got shafted. ‘It wasn’t that I felt I wasn’t getting looked after because I was a young player. I didn’t ask for [Thierry] Henry’s or [Patrick] Vieira’s [wages]. I didn’t want that.

‘I was nothing to do with them. I just knew what I was worth and they broke their promise. I look back and I was bitter. In my head I was going, “You put me through some s***”. And they just went like, “Ash, you deal with it, and it’s nothing to do with us.”

‘I think [former Arsenal vice-chairman] David Dein came out and mentioned something recently. But it took him like 20 years.

‘For 20 years I got abused. But I don’t blame the fans. I understand their frustration. They didn’t know the full facts, they didn’t know the truth.’

MERSON WANTS ISAK

Gunners icon Paul Merson has urged ARSENAL to go all out and buy Alexander Isak from Newcastle in January as the Gunners hope to challenge for the title this year.

Newcastle signed Isak for £63m in the summer of 2022 from Spanish side Real Sociedad and he has four years left on his contract, and Isak is now regarded as one of the best strikers in the Premier League and a forward that all the big clubs have been linked with over the past 12 months, but that £110M asking price has been a real problem for the chasing clubs.

It has been claimed that Chelsea, ARSENAL and Tottenham could make a move in the January window and were reportedly ready to make an offer of £60-80 million in order to tempt Newcastle into getting a transfer deal done.

Isak has subsequently scored 12 goals in 17 Premier League appearances this season and is rediscovering his best form, having scored four of those in his last two matches, and Newcastle now want a whopping £150 million before they will allow the striker to leave the club.

And now Merson has again told his former club to make a move for Isak – He told Sky Sports: “If I was Arsenal and had the money, I’d go out and buy [Alexander] Isak. I’d break the bank for him. He’s the best of the best and takes Arsenal to another level.

“What I like about Jesus is he’s got back into the team and said ‘this time round, I’m going to get in the box and score goals. If I’m going to stay in this team, I need to score goals’ and that’s what he’s done.

“The goal against Brentford was a proper poachers goal and it’s rare we see him in the six yard box, heading them in.”

£150 million is crazy money and nobody will want to pay that, so it may be that clubs wait for Isak’s contract to run down over the next few seasons and then make a move, he is still only young and has plenty of time before making that big move

If ARSENAL want him they will pay big money, but they should not meet this valuation that is for sure.
