Leeds United is continuing to be a challenger for promotion back to the English Premier League and Brenden Aaronson has been a big reason for it.
Aaronson scored once and added one assist on Saturday as Leeds United rolled past visiting Oxford United 4-0 at Elland Road. The 24-year-old earned SBI Americans Abroad Player of the Week honors for his key performance.
After Leeds United held a 1-0 lead through Daniel James’ early goal, Aaronson helped kickstart a dominant second half performance. His assist to Jayden Bogle was finished up for a 2-0 lead for the hosts.
Aaronson’s close-range finish 10 minutes extended Leeds United’s advantage to 3-0 before Manor Solomon iced the result with an insurance goal.
Aaronson has scored or assisted in 11 matches during his time at Leeds United, with eight of those performances coming at Elland Road. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder has certainly enjoyed his return to Yorkshire after spending all of last season on loan in Germany.
Daniel Farke will surely need Aaronson’s playmaking and goalscoring abilities as the EFL Championship schedule pushes forward this winter.

Malik Tillman
Malik Tillman had a hand in PSV’s 3-0 shutout Eredivisie victory over rivals Feyenoord.
Tillman scored his seventh league goal of the campaign as PSV stayed nine points clear at the top of the table. The USMNT midfielder was rested midweek in PSV’s dominant KNVB Cup result but returned with a bang on Sunday.
Weston McKennie
Weston McKennie logged back-to-back starts for Juventus this past week.
After going the distance in the Bianconeri’s 4-0 Coppa Italia win over Cagliari, the USMNT midfielder celebrated his second Serie A goal of the season on Sunday. McKennie helped Thiago Motta’s squad pick up a 2-1 road result over Monza, staying in the top six for Christmas.
A switch to left back has seen McKennie earn a new opportunity to play regularly.
Tyler Adams
Tyler Adams enjoyed one of his better performances in a Bournemouth kit on Sunday.
Adams logged 89 minutes as Andoni Iraola’s men defeated Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford. The USMNT midfielder was strong defensively, helping the visiting Cherries enjoy a memorable moment before a short holiday break.
Zach Booth
American midfielder Zach Booth delivered his first two goals as an Excelsior player.
Booth scored twice midweek as Excelsior defeated FC Eindhoven 3-1 in KNVB Cup play. The former Leicester City academy player earned Man of the Match honors as the second-tier club advanced in the competition.
