Here is a roundup of the top Liverpool news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you guys could have missed today…
Sky Sports’ Jamie Redknapp has claimed that LIVERPOOL boss Arne Slot s reaping the benefits of a strange situations where your three best players are coming out of their contracts and playing amaiazing football.
Liverpool are top of the Premier League, sitting top of that Champions League group and looking like a side that could go on to create some history despite Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk being out of contract at the end of the season.
All three have been linked with moves away, all three have had their camps in talks over new deals for months, and all three would probably like to stay for a few more seasons, but that is not hindering their performances on the pitch after another impressive 5-0 win over West Ham.
Redknapp told Sky Sports: “Arne Slot is reaping the benefits of a strange situations where your three best players are coming out of their contracts.
“They’re all playing at such a high level. They’re all hungry, they all want to be successful. The first thing on their minds is to win the Premier League. Then they’ll want to get their contract situations sorted, be it at Liverpool or elsewhere.
“They have got themselves in the most incredible position. Salah’s numbers right now are as good as when he first came to Liverpool and that’s absolutely frightening.
“I understand Liverpool’s position. He’s 33 in June so how long do they give him? Right now, he looks like he could play for the next four years, but you just don’t know.
“Some players reach the peak and then start to drop off – you think of two players who signed big contracts in Ozil and Aubameyang. But I don’t see that with these three players. They’re so hungry, so effective, so good at what they do and it’s playing into Liverpool’s hands.
“I think Salah will end up signing a contract. They’ll have to find some middle ground on what they want because he will want the top money, but Liverpool will be nervous about his age and not giving him too long of a deal.
“But because he’s playing so well, he’s almost forced that issue for Liverpool to have to give him what he wants.
“It’s the same with Virgil. He’s such a Rolls Royce, I can see him playing another three years at this level. Imagine letting him go – every club would give him whatever he wanted.
“Trent is in a different situation because of his age. But those two [Salah and Van Dijk] are at a different stage and they’re making it so perfect for LIVERPOOL, but making it hard in the contract situation with how they’re playing.”
MARC GUEHI WANTS LIVERPOOL MOVE
There has again been some fresh reports in the media which have claimed that CHELSEA transfer target Marc Guehi is more interested in completing a future move to join LIVERPOOL.
Enzo Maresca has done a wonderful job at Chelsea so far this season and the Blues are now in the race to challenge for that Premier League title, but that hasnt stopped all the speculation about the players that the Blues could look to sign.
Guehi has been brilliant for Crystal Palace over the past few seasons, his stock in the game has really risen and he is now rated as one of the best central defenders in the Premier League and a player that Chelsea have been linked with signing, for a fee of £60 million.
However – despite the many reports suggesting that CHELSEA are interested in a deal for the defender, it has been claimed on the Daily Mail website that the England International would like to join Liverpool.
The reports adds that Whether his departure happens during the January transfer window or in the summer, the centre-back wants to head to a Champions League club.
And amid all the speculation and rumours, Stanley has claimed that Guéhi’s success at Crystal Palace has proven his ability to perform consistently at the highest level, and could be a great addition to that Reds back-line, he said: ”His ability to organize the backline and remain composed under pressure would bring some more quality to al already world class Liverpool defence.
‘Guéhi’s ball-playing ability makes him an ideal fit for a manager like Arne Slot, who values defenders capable of building from the back. His accurate passing and comfort in possession would complement Liverpool’s modern, possession-heavy approach.
‘For the right amount of money, he could be a very good signing for LIVERPOOL and a man that needs to make that step up in the game.’
TAA WILL MAKE MADRID MOVE
Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the future of LIVERPOOL star Trent Alexander-Arnold as reports of a move to Real Madrid intensify, and claimed the defender will join the Spaniards at the end of the season.
Despite being one of the best players at Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold has been in the headlines alot over the past few weeks as there is no agreement with Liverpool over a new contract, and a move to Real Madrid being talked about alot.
Arnold is free to hold talks with Madrid in the January window, and many Liverpool fans are wondering if this will be his last season at Anfield, along with Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, who are also out of contract at the end of the season.
Now, amid all the speculation – Fabrizio Romano is tipping the England star to make the move to Madrid – on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “Trent is not a topic for January. January transfer window is not Trent transfer window.
‘Trent will finish the season at Liverpool for sure. His full focus is on Liverpool. Liverpool are doing fantastic and Trent is doing fantastic, so everything is under control for the summer. Real Madrid want Trent. Real Madrid are working on a deal for Trent. Real Madrid will push to sign Trent.
‘Real Madrid are there since March. Not today, not yesterday, not one month ago – March.
“He’s a top target for Real Madrid, but what I can tell you at the moment is that nothing is agreed. Nothing is done. Nothing has been communicated, so LIVERPOOL are still in the mix, still talking to the player, waiting to see how this conversation will go on Liverpool’s side and Real Madrid’s side.
‘Now we are about to enter into January, and from January, Real Madrid are officially allowed to talk to the player and see what happens, with Trent being a top target, but nothing has been communicated yet.”
